The Dongui Bogam was widely read and printed after its release, not only in Korea but also across East Asia, including China and Japan. It remains a significant reference in contemporary traditional medicine. In 2009, it was added to UNESCO's Memory of the World list with the appreciation of its focus on public health and preventive medicine, making it the first medical book to receive this recognition. The three original, undamaged copies of the first edition have been designated as first-degree national treasures in Korea.
