Despite these lingering cold bursts, spring warmth and rainfall will accelerate snowmelt across the north-central and northeast, raising the risk of river flooding. The West and Southwest look drier than average this spring, and drought conditions in the South could persist well into the season. Elevated wildfire risk also remains a concern across California and parts of the Southeast.

Our meteorologists are also keeping a close eye on the Pacific Ocean, with El Niño conditions potentially shaping weather patterns across the U.S. as we get closer to summer. As always, be sure to check your local weather forecasts and warnings.”
