Apps Like Klarna and Afterpay: A Store-Data Comparison
This is a test research page for the Bumetric publishing pipeline. It is based on public store records captured in our app database, not on bank, merchant, or customer transaction data.
What the store records show
Klarna and Afterpay are two highly visible names in the buy-now-pay-later category, but the useful comparison starts with the evidence that is actually available. Bumetric currently records the iOS listing for Klarna with a 4.86 rating from 2,309,564 ratings, and the iOS listing for Afterpay with a 4.92 rating from 752,257 ratings.
Those figures describe store-review volume, not customers, payment volume, loans issued, or revenue. They are still a helpful first signal when someone is comparing the public app footprint of services in the same shopping and payments workflow.
Five apps to compare with Klarna and Afterpay
- Klarna - iOS record, 4.86 rating from 2,309,564 ratings.
- Afterpay - iOS record, 4.92 rating from 752,257 ratings.
- Affirm - iOS record, 4.87 rating from 1,713,814 ratings.
- Zip - iOS record, 4.93 rating from 815,382 ratings.
- Sezzle - Android record, 4.51 rating from 106,988 ratings.
The first four records are listed in the Shopping category in our current store data. Sezzle's Android record is also in Shopping. This shared category is why these records belong in one comparison; it is stronger evidence of relevance than matching names or generic popularity.
How to use this comparison
For a shopper, the table is only a starting point. Store ratings summarize a large number of individual experiences but do not explain whether a particular payment option is available for a particular retailer, country, or purchase. Check the current terms and the app-store listing before making a decision.
For an app founder or buyer, the important takeaway is the scale of public feedback. Klarna's recorded review volume is higher than the other iOS records in this small set, while Affirm, Zip, and Afterpay each have substantial review histories of their own. That makes each listing useful for qualitative research: recurring praise, complaint themes, release cadence, and store-page positioning can be inspected without pretending that ratings reveal private financial performance.
Data limits
This page deliberately does not estimate downloads, transaction volume, revenue, approval rates, or market share. Those claims require evidence that app-store listings alone cannot provide. The figures above are a snapshot of fields stored by Bumetric: platform, category, rating, and rating count.
The test is successful only if the article remains useful when every unsupported claim is removed. Future research can add further evidence when it is present in the app record, clearly label estimates, and link readers back to the relevant app profiles.
Method
Bumetric matches app records by their platform-specific store identifiers and shows the latest captured public metadata. Ratings and counts can change as stores update them, so this comparison should be read as a current record rather than a permanent ranking. See our methodology for how we treat public store data and estimates.
